GQHARE and share alike is what Mrs. John R. Davis, 932 N. Bradley St., and Mrs. Charles E. Whitenack, 2867 Station St., will do with a picture of themselves. The two women were photographed while on White

Cross duty and received but one print. Decision? They'll probably take turns keeping the photograph a week at a time. s 5 2 THE ANNUAL two-ball golf tournament in Meridian Hills Club will offer the nine-hole women’s golf team something new Sunday. Women will play with their husbands during the event, And to make the tourney more competitive, prizes will be awarded to winning teams during dinper. A cocktail party on the club’s porch will be held after the 2 p. m. sport. Planning the day's activities are Mrs. George A. Van Dyke assisted by Mrs. A. J. LeBien and Mrs. Raymond M. Rice. . ” on ” MRS. JAMES M. ZOFERCHER, 52 Layman Ave. is a forgotten person as far as the Marion County Association of Mental Health is concerned. Membership commitee members of the group were discussing means of increasing the number of club members when Mrs. Zoercher, an active membership committee worker, stated, “No one ever asked me to belong.” She was “signed up” on-the spot. ” o os A CLUB race seems to be going on between Mrs. Samuel Harrell, Crows Nest, and Mrs. Donald D. Goss, 3540 N. Pennsylvania St. Mrs. Goss was quite distressed this week when she learned Mrs. Harrell had six meetings to attend while she only had five. ” ” . WHEN Mrs. W. H. Wemmer, 5260 N. Meridian ,St.,, comes home next week from Hawali, family introductions will have to be made. ’ While on vacation, Mrs, Wemmer became a grandmother. Parents of the baby are Mr. and Mrs. Jim Peed (Mrs. Peed is Mrs. Wemmer's daughter), who live in the Meridian St. address. n o 2 FESTIVE preparations are in order in the Harry A. King household, “5204 E. 10th St. Mr. and Mrs. King will celebrate

‘their 25th” wedding anniversary

with a 4 to 8 p.m. dpen house Aug. 30. Mrs. Clyde Rainford, Gary, Mrs. King's sister, will assist the couple at the event. EJ n tJ THEATER PARTIES will be a steady diet for Mr. and Mrs, Chris Strapulos, 4736 N. Kenwood Ave., these next few days. The couple left yesterday for Chicago where they will see stage plays and musicals with a baseball game in between. 2 ” ” IF ANYONE has a spare “enter” and “exit” sign, the Carl J. Weinhardts, 4833 N.

Meridian St., lent use for it. Since Mrs, Weinhardt's aunt, Mrs. Millle Voris, Columbus, Ind., came to visit in Indianapolis, guests have been coming and going through the Weinhardt portal to greet the guest. But there's a good reason for all this. Mrs. Voris will celebrate her 93d birthday Saturday.

Caters to Family Joys

By ELIZABETH TOOMEY Inited Press Staff Correspondent

NEW YORK, Aug. 21—The American Legion convention has become a family affair with fashion shows, baby sitters and cots for the children. : The planners who go to work months before Legion-

naires come to town now try to anticipate needs of wives and children instead of worrying over water pistols, electric canes and water-filled paper bags. “The World War I boys are too old; the World War II boys are too busy with their families and job, and about half of the Legionnaires bring their wives and children,” said Edith Shutters in explaining the change that has come over Legion conventions. As office manager for the convention, Miss Shutters arrived last winter from Indianapolis to start preparations for the convention which begins

here Sunday. = ” ”

indigestion, exhaustion or more serious complaints {is alerted. There are 20 doctors and 45 nurses available if necessary. Some of the families come along just for the sightseeing, others are what Miss Shutters refers to as “all-Legion” families. There's © the family: which includes father and son, both Legion members, the son's wife who was an army nurse and their four children. Miss Shut-

ters. got them all adjoining | rooms. . “There. are 28 junior corps

entered in the parade competition, so that means a lot more families,” said the harassed office manager. “And the women

Legionnaires are going to have |

a more active part than ever in the convention.” . 4
