HEN. Mrs. John Barrett, Golden Hill, appeared in a beautiful white Venetian lace gown yesterday at her own cocktail party, everyone was asking where she

found it.

And when she told them it was _

her wedding gown made over, the women - started getting ideas about their own dresses, The Barretts entertained with a champagne party for their 25th wedding anniversary.

o = n AN EAST SIDE woman, with the assistance of her husband, was slicing up peaches to preserve in the deep freeze. Her hubby prepared the sirup and left her there with the bushel of fruit and her work. She continued to fill jars and pour the colorless liquid over the fruit finally taking a sample. Hubby had erred. Rather than sirup, the peaches were floating in gin. This could be used as a substitute for peach brandy.

~ n 5 MISS CONNIE GREEN, Central Ct., decided vou can’t hide from people you know in a big city, When Miss Green left here last week, she didn’t tell anyone where she was headed for. During intermission of a performance of “Guys and Dolls” in Chicago, she excused herself as she brushed by one of the theater-goers and was then discovered. It was Mrs. Emma Kominers, 3140 Washington Blvd. who is also vacationing in Chicago. That's the end of the secret,

IT WAS * ostly fo Miss Isabelle Riggs, 1338 Shannon St., to try to speak to her college roommate while in New York.. Miss Riggs was shopping in Times Square when in the crowd shé spotted her Indiana University roommate whom &he hadn't seen for six years, Calling out to her didn’t help and

when the pursued girl entered a cab, Miss Riggs followed her in another one. The cab stopped by a theater and the roommate purchased her ticket and went inside while Miss Riggs paid her cab. Finally, the Indianapolis woman tracked down her victim and threw her arms around her joyously. Wrong girl. Miss Riggs still says that girl could pass as her roommate's double, = n on THERE WAS a lot of lastminute packing to do at 2811 N. New Jersey St. this past week end. Miss Mona Zilson had planned a trip to Washington and just before leaving, persuaded her mother, Mrs, Fay Zilson, to accompany her. » = » WASHINGTON'S magnetism has taken hold of William J. Regas, Shoreland Towers. Mr. Regas left this week for Michigan City where he will visit his parents. After a week's stay, he will fly to Washington for the remainder of his vacation. n n o CONVERSATION overheard at the Keys went, “I simply have to think of that last name befere it drives me crazy. I know that bandleader’'s name is Johnny. But Johnny what?” Finally, an eavesdropper, unable to be quiet any longer, addressed the young lady and her companion talking at the next table saying to them, “Is the name short?” “Oh, yes. That's it,” chimed in the girl. “Johnny Long.”
