Times Sports Editer The Indianapolis Indians today landed Pitcher Sam Jones on option from the parent Cleveland Indians to assist
them on their 21-game road
trip that opens in St. Paul
tomorrow night, playing the third-place Saints in a double-
header, | Jones, a giant Negro righthander, posted an amazing record with San Diego in the Pacific Coast League last year but failed to measure up to major league! caliber under Senor Al l.opez at Cleveland. Jones has appeared in 13 games this year, winning two and| losing three. He; has struck out 26° and has is-, sued 34 walks for an earned-run average of 7.64. Cleveland officials indicated they would let Jones stay with the Indianapolis club the rest of the American Association season. He is 26, stands 6-4 and weighs
