New 45 RPM Discs Play Minutes Longer

RECORD COLLECTORS who have the 45-rpm players will be glad to learn RCA Victor is now introducing a new

They are of the same size and operate on the same turntable at the same speed as standard 45 records. “They will play up to eight minutes to a side, or a total of 16 minutes for each record,” Mr. Barkmeier also said. “This will enable the recording of entire selections of certain “types of classical music on a single side, as reduce by’ half the number of records presently required in an album of popular music.” RCA Victor technicians have been working for some time on the development of thix advancement of the standard 45 phonograph system, according to Mr. Barkmeier, and it means another outstanding “first” for his com pany In the field of recorded music, Distribution of the new “EP's” in Indianapolis and central Indiana will be made through

HMV must have an envious eye on that. For a /long time some of HMV's artists -and repertoire have been reaching Americans under the Victor label. There's no break in the alliance. is played in the open air at the famous Salzburg Mozarteum. It was directed by Josef Messner, noted Festival conductor for many years. Soloists were Hilde (yueden, Met Opera soprano, and Julius Patzak, tener, n n n ARTUR RODZINSKI has recently complted three new orchestral symphonic recordings for Remington Records. They are Beethoven's “lL.eonore Overture No. 3," Wagner's “Preludes to First and Third Acts of Lohengrin” and Beethoven's “Symphony No. 1.” Don Gabor, Remongton pres says they show that Rodzinski is still one of the world's foremost conductors.
