. Bry United Press SPRINGFIELD, Ill. Aug. *6 Bill . Schindler,” Freeport, N. Y., cracked the world's dirt track record today in winning the 100mile AAA auto race” at the-Illi-nois State Fair. The 43-year-old wooden-legged driver raced around the one-mile oval at the State Fairgrounds in one hour 3 minutes and 46.14 geconds. The old record was 1 hour 4:51.08. Schindler slipped into first place on the 59th lap, when Troy Juttman, 22-year-old Lynwood, ('al., driver who won the Indianapolis H00-miler and led most of the way today, had a flat tire. » o - WHEN RUTTMAN got back out of the pits he tried valiantly to get back into the lead but in the end he was out of the running Schindler finished half a lap ahead of Jack McGrath, South Pasadena, Cal. The timer first announced that Schindler's time was three seconds short of the record but revised the figure after a consultation with judges. Sam Hanks of Glendale, Cal, finished third.
