TO 8-year-old Tommy Kelly, a collapsible umbrella is a broken ane, When Tommy borrowed his mother's umbrella yesterday to go to the store, he decided it was broken so set about repairing it. Hands Betray Bad Nerves

Besides the care and feeding of hands — you know by now that you must be faithful to the ritual with lotion bottle at the bath basin—give a thought or two to the way your hands behave. Hands knuckle-deep in costume rings and elbow deep in bracelets need to act nicely as well as look pretty.

Hands at ease rest as quietly in a lap, palm on palm, as doves

sleeping on a roost. When jittery, interlocking, fingertwisting or twiddling with

clothes, hands make everybody else nervous too. Another example of nervousness is the way a woman grips a cigaret—between thumb and forefinger — and grinds it out when she extinguishes it. Better hand behavior is to hold a cigaret in an arched hand between two fingers and to make the killing of the light as little like murder as possible. A little mischief-making that bears watching is a little finger that springs out of hand. It's just ‘as easy to keep a little pinkie in line with the other fingers when holding a tea-cup or a cocktail glass.

Dolphin Club Plans Outing

A party is on the calendar for the Indianapolis Athletic Club Dolphin Club Tuesday. For sure there's to be swimming. But on that day members will don suits for aquatic antics in the Meridian Hills Club outdoor pool instead. of their usual indoor workout in the IAC. Swimming will "begin at 11 a. m. Luncheon will be served at 1 p. m. Among the special guests will be Miss Louise Parrish, Muskegon, Mich, ‘who'll be with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Frank Parrish. Miss Parrish arrives Monday for a visit with the Parrishes, 929 N. Bolton Ave.

A MAN and his wife have a woman dinner guest and there is no other man present. : - ’

WRONG: The man doesn’t bother to seat either woman. RIGHT: The man seats both the guest and his wife. ’ o ” ” WHEN you go to dinner you notice that there is a mistake in your dinner check. WRONG: Feel it would embarrass the girl if you mentioned the mistake when you pay the bill, RIGHT: Say quietly and courteously: “I believe there is a mistake in my bill.”

Keep Thermometer Out of Water

To clean’ your cooking ther-

mometers, just wipe with a damp _cloth. Never immerse them in dishwater. Thermometers made entirely of stainless steel are easier to

clean, and they last longer since they can withstand years of handling.” Try to keep them in a place where they won't get banged around needlessly, however. :
