Couple Jailed For Child Neglect

An Indianapolis couple was sent tn"Marion County Jail today for failing to support their three children, Rurel Sanford, 27, of 139 -N Delaware St. and his wife, Helen 24, of 339" Leeds St. were cited for contempt of court for not carrving out a Juvenile Court or der to aid in the support of their children The children, ranging “in age from 2 to 5, were made wards of the Welfare Department on Feb 8, 1951. The father was instructed by the court to pay $17.50 a week and the mother $7.50 a week, ’ Court Referee lawrence H Hinds said the father owes $112 and the mother $480 in payment Mr. Hinds sald it is evident the parents do not want! the children yet they will not allow them to be put up for adoption.
