Erring Father Gets 180 Days’

West Side father has 180 days on the State Penal Farm. to ponder his “logic” that his taxes are sufficient payment for the public support ‘of ‘his children. Charles Mitchener, 25, of 1302 W. 28th St., argued irk Juvenile Court yesterday his taxes supported the. Welfare Department which was supporting his children Mitchener was cited into cofirt as being $1525 behind in the support of his three children by a former marriage. He was divorced from his first wife in 1950, ° Fined $3500

Mitchener also contended his $85. a week salary went for the support of two children by a second wife, : Referee Leila Kennedy turned a deaf ear to Mitchener’s reasoning and fined him $500 in addition to the farm sentence. “Divorced fathers who contract a second marriage®seem to believe it discharges them from responsibility toward their first,” "Mrs, Kennedy said. “As far as this court is concerned, the first mar-
