Let Plants

Dry Before Working

EARLY MORNINGS now find gardens heavy with dew. It's wise to let plants dry before working around them and so possibly spreading disease. Beans are especially susceptible to leaf troubles

spread by picking when vines are damp.

» = u BORERS SEEM to he unusually plentiful on zinnias. If plants are dusted regularly, the pests can’t cause so much trouble. If you find a plant already broken over from borer action, split the stem and Kill the worm or he'll finish off other plants.

" 2 5 BAGWORMS are appearing In their usual hard-to-see leaf shelters that hang from all kinds of plants. Hand picking will dispose of a few. For a quantity of them spray with lead - arsenate or chlordane (said to penetrate the bags.)

Do not try to carry a plant in the luggage compartment. Do not put it in the rear window where sun may cook it. Abide willingly by the laws that forbid certain plants in certain areas.
