Franklin P. Adams in the- visual (Ch. 6, 8 p.m.).

version of “Information Please"

Super Blonde Due In Town Tomorrow

MARY HARTLINE, the gorgeous bundle of blondeness | |

who brightens up “Super Circus” (Ch. 6, 12 noon, Sunday),

will be in town tomorrow and Tuesday. She's appearing at the William H. Block Co. all day

Tuesday with a new line of Mary Hartline dolls, dresses -and batons. Mary, who's parlayed her good looks and talents into a half-doz-en jobs, will fly in from Chicago— the city where she first gained fame. In addition to leading the circus band on TV, emceeing a weekly radio show, modeling both fer photographers and fashions, Mary has had the pleasure several times in the ‘last three years of telling Hollywood nix on movie contracts. . Now married and settled in Chicago, she’s one of many entertainers in the Windy City who're trying to keep Chicago in competition with New York and Hollywood as a TV center. " » n

TV TOPS . . . A’ quick concensus of the entertainment world shows there now are 54 million people viewing TV on 18 million sets. That's 4 million more. TV sets than there are movie theater seats in the country. And out in Hollywood, 141 film producers now are working on video films while only 130 are

making theater movies. ” ” o

IN THE SAME VEIN, the big Hollywood movie companies are

fighting a federal court ruling

forcing them to sell their'old films to TV, One of the fighting companies just signed ‘a big, fat contract with TV to produce new video films. Does that make sense? Another company which sold 220 oldies to television defended its sale by saying it was the only way it could scrape up enough cash to make 20 new films for theaters. .
