Schiaparelli Drapes New Creations on Rounded Silhouet

By ROSETTE HARGROVE Times Special Writer

PARIS, Aug. 6—Schiaparelli packed. a couple of hundred buyers, friends and representatives of the press into the floodlit courtyard of her private mansion to view her Winter “grasshopper” collection.

On a sleek, rounded silhouet

Schiaparelli scatters winglike jutouts which thrust forward on ‘coats, suits and collars, and swish behind on stiff ened bhasques and afternoon dresses Bell skirts are revived here, topped with brief Eton bholeros or unfitted fackets just barely hinting

Super bulky topcoats have outsize cowl draped necklines, incredibly large collars or giant fur lapels and cuffs. ” n n SCHIAPARELLI burgundy reds with blues, and with grasshopper The rest of her color card Is composed of desert tans, Orange, grays and black. MANGUIN HAS gone to the romantic 17th century for inspiration, and has brought back high cavalier collars, lace jabots and cuffs, modernized doublets, riding skirts and draped overskirts. The silhouet remains fluid and supple in this collection, but - skirts are slender and definitely longer, about 12 inches from the floor. Soft, semiclassic suits are completed by Hhiscious satin blouses with draped necklines, These suits are often trimmed with satin, velvet or braided edges. Hip-length, unfitted jackets are often lined with fur, and often narrow at the hem.

Deodorants

Are Vital

Two beauty ‘preparations which certainly have no season are cologne and deodorant.

| They are just as vital to your

personal charm and grooming in fall as they are in midsummer. Keep them together on your

One particularly effective deodorant is a creamy smooth lotion which is designed to prevent the fermentation or bacterial growth caused by perspiration. The deodorant can be used daily because it congains a new astringent property that causes no irritation to the skin. 8 n ”

pus 1952. It is hard to tell night clothes from play clothes these days. Dormitory favor tes shown were candy-striped- flannels. One style had a sweater top over short bloomers. There was a short night shirt and a nightgown, too, all in the same stripe. In the “Vote for Labor” sequence, a group of blouses, skirts and dresses made from patterns were shown. Another scene called “Candidates Take a Ribbing” featured ribbed cottons, corduroys and wools. Of special note here was an olive green and gold ribbed cotton casual dress with a matching gold wool cardigan sweater bound in tha same cotton. Informal dancing dresses are a favorite on every campus. This year's version is a white sweater-blouse over a full vel--veteen skirt, shown in such colors as bright pink, olive green, peacock blue, taupe or American beauty. Models wore

‘Don't’ Has More Meaning If Not Said Too Often

By RUTH MILLETT “MAMA, please don't say ‘don’t’” said the 5-year-old to his mother in all seriousness. He had something there. For she probably used the word 20 times in half an hour.
