Pilot Is Hero In Death Plunge
By United Press v { S8AN DIEGO, Cal, Aug. 6— Witnesses told today how a heroic pilot turned a flaming B-36 away from crowded beaches and crashed it into the sea. The 10-engine bomber was making an approach to Lindbergh Field from over the Pacific yesterday when its starboard engine exploded. It quickly plunged into the Pacific with two of its eight crewmen.
