To collect the money, the vet must file a report at the end of each month stating he was “actually enrolled In and pursuing the course’ approved by the VA during that month. The school must submit a similar certificate for which the government will pay it $1.50 to help cover administrative expense. ~ " » WITHIN 20 days after receiving these reports, the VA will send the vet his check. If there are no reports, there'll be no money. Futhermore, a faked report will expose the guilty party to a maximum penalty of $5000 and three years in jail. On top of this, if a school fails promptly to report “excessive sences” or discontinuance of a course by a vet, the government can collect from the school any money it {illegally pays out to the student.

The vet is free to pick his own school, from the gradeschool level through college.
