Father Sentenced
For Beating Son
NOBLESVILLE, July 28 (UP)| =~Dowe Lyle, 29, started a sgixmonth penal farm sentence today for beating his nine-year-old son, Tommie. Witnesseg said the boy was beaten for what Lyle considered slowness in heating bath water. They said his lips were swollen twice: their normal size and both eves were blackened. City Judge C. V. Malan imposed sentence and fine Lyle $500 and costs on a charge of assault and battery. Judge Malan said “I regret the law does not allow me to impost a heavy penalty , . . you should go to prison for 20 years or you should under-
go the penalty of a flogging law." 4 J Ne Bunaine ; SAE 3
