Get Harmless Gelatin

The other half, doctors said, will get only harmless gelatin. That is being done to see if the

tually do suffer from less paral: ysis, as doctors hope. Dr. William McDowell Hammon, a University of Pittsburgh professor who heads the experi--ment, said only a statistician keeping a coded master chart will know which children get the GG and which get the impotent gelatin. GG is a protein derived from the blood. It is intended to strike at the infantile paralysis virus before it reaches important nerve centers. The gamma globulin arrived in la refrigerated railroad car. It must be kept at an even 41-degree temperature. The doctors and their aids say] they can inoculate 7500 children a day if they work at capacity eight hours a day. From the response they havé been getting, they expect to operate nearly at capacity.
