If you like to do simple cooking, the kind you can do |i in your own back yard, why not try making a Buddy Burner from old tin cans? This was suggested and worked out as a class room project in Washington School No. 13, Wawatosa, Wis. It was a science demonstration on the subject of controlled fires. Younger children should only use this with the help of their parents or group leaders. Use a tall juice carf or No. 10 can as the stove, and with a pair of tin snips cut out a door two inches high and wide enough to slide a tuna fish can into. Around the top punch several triangular ventilating holes. Wind a strip of corrugated paper round and round the | inside of a tuna fish can until it completely fills the can. Then pour, or let drip, warm candle wax all over the paper until it is completely covered, then insert a candle wick in the center. Light this burner, slip it in place, and try frying an egg on top of your new stove. Good? | MONDAY-—Ice Cream Spoon Doily Dolls.

Mr. Masters Follows the Old Tactic of Delayed Attack
R. MUZZY was sitting behind Mr. Masters in today's deal and he raised his eyebrows over Mr. . Masters’ pass on the first round of bidding. Mr. Muzzy would have been right in there with a bid of two hearts. And, in this particular deal, he probably would have reached the same final contract, namely four hearts. The point however, that

Suppose, for example, Mr. Dale held an absolute minimum opening and no heart support. What would he do over a two heart bid by Mr. Masters? Having opened. the bidding, first hand, he was obligated to bid again. If the North-South cards happened to be a misfit, trouble was just around the corner. » » ” AS YOU SEE, Mr. Masters had no difficulty making the heart game, but after the play was completed Mr. Muzzy commented: “You took an awful chance of missing that game when you passed on the first round, Masters.” : “I took practically’. no chance,” replied Mr. Masters, smiling.

“Well, what if Dale had not bid again?” asked Mr. Muzzy. “In that case,” said Mr. Masters, “the odds are overwhelming that we could make no game. It was only after I found out my partner had an above-minimum opening and was willing to force me to bid,

Judging from remarks and letters received recently, the answer lies in a girl named Cathy Lewis who plays Irma's long-suffering i
roommate, Jane Stacey. {be presented.
Jane, of course, has the audience on her side. She's such an average; good sport of a woman, patient as a kindergarten teacher ~yet with the likeable flipness of a typical New York office girl— you can't help taking to her. To many viewers she’s actually a lot funnier than roommate Irma. Irma is “funny” because she doesn't see through things. Jane does. She throws off a line like she owned it, usually with a clever sarcastic twist about the plight of poor Irma. § Aside from her character, which makes her part a more popular one than Irma’s, Cathy Lewis ranks as one of the really skillful actresses on TV. 8o skillful, in fact, she's pulling off one of the great week-by-week scene stealing operations in the medium, “It kind of makes
