Mr. Muzzy could. He wanted 200 points on the hand. So he doubled. Without the double there would have been no reason for Mr. Dale to disturb seven spades. He had everything promised by his jump raise, with something to spare.

BUT AFTER the double came in, Mr. Dale did a little thinking. First, it seemed certain that Mr. Muzzy didn’t have a spade trick. And if not, then he must have an ace. Mr, Dale had an #ce in his hand. Miss Brash, then, could have only two aces. Even she is not wild enough to jump to a grand slam, off two aces, The only answer seemed to ba that she had a void suit. And it was not hard to determine where that void was. It had to be in eclubs—the only suit in which she could not have first or second round control
