A NEW development in the art needlework field is the introduction of
“Filigree” yarn for handknit dresses and blouses,
The yarn is made of white Orion and twisted with gold or silver metallic thread which gives a glittering lacy effect when knitted. It is said to be pleasant and cool for summer wear and needs only an initial blocking. It launders and dry cleans easily, dries quickly and is shrink-proof and moth-resist-ant, according to James Lees and Sons Co. who are producing it. a ” ” .
THE YARN IS available in both Minerva and Columbia brands and may be purchased in Ayres’ Art Needlework Department. The first shipment will include all-white, white with silver or white with gold. The metallic threads are non= tarnishing and washable, too. The lacy effect of the pattern shown is achieved by simply knitting in the usual -casy stockinette stitch on size three needles, The yarn {is being packaged in one-ounce balls at 98 cents each. Six balls are sufficient for a blouse and 18 will complete a’ dress.
