Dangers Hidden in

NEW YORK, June 13—Biill Pen Points: There is a rule in the baseball book which says that if a spectator interferes with a player in the act of catching a ball the batter shall be declared out. This rule was applied in a recent game between the Yankees and the Browns. One of the consequences was that Rogers Hornsby was fired as manager of the Browns, victim of the penalty. It seems Hornsby did not protest actively enough to satisfy Bill Veeck, the odd character, who operates the St. Louis club. Basically. this is a needed rule. While it may be true there are spectators who can play the game better than some of our modern exponents, custom dictates that they remain inactive as guests, Nevertheless, there are hidden dangers in the rule.

The Indians are scheduled in this Twin Cities area for five tilts, two with the Millers and three \ with the fourth-place St. Paul Saints.
