by her thankful,

Blessed Mother who gave her back to me,” said Mrs. Catherine Hughes, Minersville, Pa. The baby was born prematurely last Saturday in the apartment where Mrs. Hughes and her husband were living temporarily with friends. After the child was pronounced still-born by an attending physician, and later by an obstetriclan, she was wrapped in newspapers to await the undertaker.

Patrolman George Mayne, called to make a report, heard a faint scratching in the news-paper-covered package. He tore open the paper and rushed the baby to a hospital where she was reported “doing nicely and improving” today. Mrs. Hughes wanted to name the child after Officer Mayne, but sald, “I don't know what I can do with the name George when my baby is a girl.”
