Rites Set for Chef At Columbia Club
Services for Gotthold Reiber, for 33 years head pastry chef at the Columbia Club, will be at 130 p. m. tomorrow in Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel. Burfal will be in Crown Hill. Mr, Reiber, who was 77, began working at the Columbia Club in 1905. A native of Germany, he came to the U. 8. in 1902. Mr. Reiber died Saturday at his home, 1368 N. Tuxedo St. Known as “George,” Mr. Reiber retired in 1938. He baked pastry for such world-greats as Charlés A. Lindberg, Queen Mary of England, Queen Marie of Romania, and for Presidents Willlam Howard Taft and Theodore Roosevelt. Mr. Reiber was a member of the First Evangelical and Reformed Church. Surviving are his wife, Louise; his two sons, Oscar and Howard, all of Indianapolis; his daughter, Mrs. John Hostetter, Kokomo; a brother, Heinrich, and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Ziegler and Mrs. Rosa Grauer, all living in Germany.
