Local Pilot Hurt In Plane Crash
A light airplane crashed at the northeast edge of the city yesterday and one of two occupants was critically hurt. Roy Taylor, 48, of 9600 Pendleton Pike, the pilot, was taken to General Hospital in critical condition. His passenger, Pfc. Carl Nyberg, Camp Rucker, Ala.,, was in fair condition in Veterans Hospital. The plane hit a tree taking off from a farm field when it was housed.

Protest U. S. Aid For Fall Creek
The Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce today protested a proposed $1,200,000 .federal appropriation for a Fall Creek flood control project as “wholly unwarranted.” “Indianapolis is fully able to provide this improvement without outside assistance,” said President J. R Fenstermaker in a telegram to Sen. Kenneth McKellar (D, Tenn,), chairman of the Senate appropriations Committee, “We opposed its inclusion on earlier appropriations on the ground that . . . there is ample bonding power for this and other needed flood prevention here without one dime of federal aid.” The appropriation was for rechanneling the stream at the Indiana Ave. bridge and rebuilding the bridge.
