Of State Takes Peters’ Post

A former collector of internal revenue and state treasurer has been named Federal Housing

Franklin D, Richards in Washington late yesterday. The vacancy was created when the late R. Earl Peters was dismissed Jan. 11 from the post he had held 17 years for insuring his own investment in a Ft Wayne apartment project in 1947. This violated FHA rules. George Bailey Jr, FHA assistant zone commidsioner, has been in charge of the Indiana office here since Mr. Peters’ dismissal. Died in Florida

Fla., hospital. He had been taken there arter an earlier seizure in his Miami home, Mr. Wilcox, 57, is a former resident of New Albany and now lives at 3707 N. Meridian St. He was appointed Indiana collector of internal revenue in November, 1945, by President Truman. Mr. Wilcox resigned that post in 1948 to conduct a successful campaign for state treasurer. He was defeated for re-election in 1850. Active in state Democratic politics for many years, Mr. Wilcox is a friend of Associate Justice Sherman Minton, also of New Al- _ bany.’ * A veteran of World War I, Mr. Wilcox helped form an American Legion post in his native city, and served on the Floyd County Selective Service Board during World War IL A member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent, he is married and had two sons. ‘While living in New Albany, he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Old Calumet Club and Rotary Club. He belongs to the Businessmen's ‘Association and American Business Club.

ABC Revokes Licenses
