If you “let yourself go,” your looks will suffer not only now but afterward. If you show a little self-discipline your looks will improve. This is not just chit-chat. If the experiences of your friends haven't proved it, think of the movie stars who have several children. They are as youthful looking, yet more attractively mature than they were before. Oddly, the thing that will concern you the most concerns men the least. Decide on a basic color and stick to it—that is, navy, black, or brown for your shoes, handbag, and your important public outfit and colors that go with your choice for your skirts, dresses, hats, and coat. If you've a good handbag, take it as your color. If it's navy, then look for navy low heels and a navy skirt, With this as background, you can add brighteners, such as a red hat, scarf, or smock. Or, if you're starting with a bright blue shortie, get yourself a navy skirt and shoes, and match your hat to your coat. . » ¥

THE POINT is not to try to build your wardrobe around two basic colors, or you'll have to buy twice as much as you need to look smart, Remember too that nothing (except a smile) ever flatters a woman so much as a touch of white at the throat. Pick up your basic colors with white artificial flowers, pearls or white bead chokers. Save room in your budget for at least one comfortable, pretty, washable housecoat (trim off the hemline so that it won't trip you) or brunch coat, and it will be a delight to get into and relax in during the last months, and a standby in the weeks after your baby’s birth, And although your greatest beauty asset is your good diet, save some time and money for extra beauty care. Plan on a permanent along about the seventh or eighth month when your figure is moving into its most clumsy period. If you can, go to a beauty parlor and get the works—new haircut, good permanent, wave, and manicure, if it won't drive you crazy to sit under the dryer. x» 0»

It is my feeling that at this stage of your pregnancy, it's best to hang a curtain over the mirror, leaving only the knee-to-floor part exposed. You can check on your hem and seams this way, and forget your bulge. It looks worse to you than it does to anybody else. Remember, you'll eventually trade it in on a baby which is, if you
