KEN MURRAY is one TV star who wants to keep his show off film.
Despite the rush by other stars fo be first in the
film line—Murray sticks to his opinion his show would yuffer if put on film—and he could ™ : % pe right. Says Murray, “The keynote of my show {is informality, novelty and integration. We get people like Cecil B. DeMille and Kirk Douglas to drop over and just say. hello, If it was on film—I'd have to tell them to get to a studio at such-and-such a time, rehearse, resheot and so on. Those people simply wouldn't do that, so I'd have to change my whole show.” In his parting shot, Murray states, “Frankly, I don’t see how variety shows can go to film—it ° ruins their effectiveness. I'll stick to live stuff and let the fluffs fall where they may.” ” s » Subject for this week’s letterwriting contest deals with the TV set versus your social life. Do _you find that having the set in your living room interferés with other social activities such as conversation and parties? Does it get the lion's share of attention? All entries in this contest must Be postmarked by midnight Thursday and addressed to TV Editor, The Indianapolis Times. A $5 prize will be awarded for the best letter. ” » » SATIRIST Roger Price, a fre- § quent guest with Ed Sullivan and author of “In One Head and Out the Other,” has been signed by 3 ABC for humorous commentary

THAT Red Skelton jibe at ® President Truman in a recent telecast was the crowning blow of comedians taking pot-shots at politicians. He obliquely stamped HST. an “idiot. The ad agencies are making an all-out effort to stop the comics from throwing off-the-cuff polit-fcally-slanted barbs. Skelton’s §3 crack was considered by most as far more brutal than funny. His show is. seen tonight at 9 on Channel 10. : s = = J THE TALENTED actor-come- : dian Wally Cox is slated to hea a summer TV replacement show. Entitled “Peepers,” the show would cast Cox as a high school teacher who consistently gets involved with mischievous trickplaying students. ” » LOOK for arm-flailing Frankie Laine to land his own 15-minute

» THE LAST FOUR weeks of the “Comedy Hour,” in June, seen each Sunday at 7 p. m. on Channel 10 and 11 p. m. on Channel 6, will probably star “newcomers” as masters of ceremony.
