NZYMES got a futile workout recently. And they may keep getting this exercise annually if a deteriorat-

ing agent doesn't interfere.

At a recent anniversary party given by Bud

Samey Dillon, Marion, in their own Miller's Supper Club, the Indianapolis - invited guests transfered their best-wishes expression from flowers to a special cake. (Mr. and Mrs, Dillon were celebrating their third anniversary as proprietors of “the club.)

The cake, which was prepared in a local bakery and taken to

, the Marion hosts, was unique

in its icing. There were four roses frosted onto the pastry in the usual style but on a chocolate base depicting a bottle. When the| big moment arrived to open the gift, the guests gathered around anticipating a piece of confection. But Mrs. Dillon, once seeing- the “Four Roses” iced on as decoration, refused to put the knife in. After much deliberation, she decided to put the gift in the deep freeze and save it for future parties as an exhibition piece. Stuff like this improves with age. » ” - WHEN THE POSTMAN delivers a package to Miss Sue Billings, Carmel, the neighbors join in and form an excited audience during the unwrapping ceremony. And they have good reason to behave in such man-

._.ner because each box. contains

a surprise. Miss Billings started five years ago to collect objects connected with famous people. Now she boasts of souvenirs from over 700 celebrities, including members of royal families, diplomats, movie stars and military heros. Among her trophies is a stocking once worn by Marlene Dietrich to cover her million-

and

dollar insured legs. Rise Stevens has sent her the rose she used in one of her Metropolitan performances of “Carmen.” But her most prized item iv one gifted to her from the Christian Dior House, Paris. When she wrote there, Miss Billings merely asked for a card, name tag or something with little value. In place, she was sent a scarf especially de: signed for her. All it costs for this collection is a few stamps and a little effort writing request notes. : ~ =" =" VAN INDIANAPOLIS WOMAN is loaning ideas to Dr Christian. And it's paying otf for her in the amount of $500. Mrs, Carl V. Coonse, 52 N. Ritter Ave., was recently interviewed over CBS in New York for having successfully writ‘en

a “Dr. Christian” play entitled “For Everything You Gain.”

_A hausewife, mother of four children and a grandmother, Mrs. Coonse found time to write the drama, her first creative attempt. . Inspiration to try her hand -at writing came from-Walter H: Hogan .who taught radio and

script writing in Technical High |

School. It was Mr. Hogan who instigated these try-outs for members of the Indiana Author's. Guild of which Mrs. Coonse is president. The playwright arrived home last night and tomorrow night club members will honor her with a party in her home.

Ask Princess Obolensky, At Wasson’'s Next Week

By BETTY LOCHER Times Fashion Editor

RINCESS OBOLENSKY,

designer of glamorous fash-

ions in regular, large and half-sizes, will be in Was-

son’s Monday and Tuesday to present her summer collec-

tion. There will be informal modeling of her designs between

11 a. m. and 4 p. m. on the.

second floor both days. Miss Obolensky has definite ideas on how to be glamorous though 40, 50 or over. “It makes me so furious,” she says, “to see.a woman put herself on the shelf just when she gets to an interesting age.” She was born in France and believes French women have learned more about making the most of themselves. In French the word “mature” is a synonym for “fascinating,” she says. = » n . “THE SOPHISTICATED and emotionally mature woman is a realist,” she says. “She has learned to accept herself as she really is and to make the most

of what she has. Such a woman uses her clothes as a background for her personality and develbps a very personal style of her own.” Her collection features moderately priced clothes in both regular and half-sizes. The half-sizes are smaller woman as well as sized to her figure. Collars are proportioned, skirts have a gentler flare, pockets are not too large. She endeavors to give a custom cut to her clothes with bodices sleeves that do not pull or cut into “the arms; comfortable armholes and slim skirts with hidden fullness for ease ‘in walking and sitting. = # 5

SHE MAKES A point of ex-tra-wide seams for easy altera-

tiongtaped waistlines to make the Birt hang properly, and interfacings so that her clothes will keep their shape through cleaning er washing. With her extensive fashion training, Princess Obolensky can quickly analyze the type of garment ‘which will prove a happy choice for the individual woman. She will be available for personal consultation during her visit and will analyze each customer’s figure and suggest the best styled.
