. Sermon of the Week—
‘The Fulfillment’
By the Rev. Charles M. Armentrout
Scripture: “He Is risen.” Matt. 23,6 “ THESE three Words, “He 4s risen,” are the greatest words that ever have
been uttered. They have .
become the means of changing all darkness into light. .
For the disciples, the death of Jesus plunged them into ‘the very depths of despair. It marked for them the 'destruction of all their hopes and aspirations, For the eleven, it

had promised, “I will not leave you desolate, I will come unto you." And now the risen Christ appeared unto them and said, “Lo, I am with you always even unto the end of the world.” A minister tells of an Incident in the life of a friend. He had been calling at this man’s home, when the phone rang, informing his friend that his wife had suddenly been
stricken at work, andethat they,
“Were bringing her home. As they waited for the ambulance to‘come, this friend turned to the minister and said, “It is a wonderful thing to be a Christian, for whatever happens or whatever the future holds in store for us, we know who holds that future and we know that He is continually with us.” This constant presence is the fulfillment of the promise of the Upper Room, “Lo I am with you always even unto the end of the world.”
HIS PEACE: In the Upper Room the Lord promised, “My peace I give unto you”; now the risen Christ appeared and said, “Peace be unto you.” There is a certain peace that hovers around His humble followers. This peace has been often expressed by many as they have faced death. From their lips have come such words as, “I know that life's greatest adventure will be the first five minutes after death.” It is this peace that passeth understanding that says to us no matter what the vicissitudes may be, nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate us from the peace that the Risen Lord has given to all who could come after him. From this peace we gain the stability and the courage to face life day by day unflinchingly. . » .
HIS AUTHORITY: On the night in which He was betrayed, Jesus had promised to
give to His followers authority over life. He promised, “The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things” . . . and again, “you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.” After--the Resurrection; the
iisen. Christ. appeared. to them;

“and breathed upon them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’ ” Here then is the authority for our lives. This is the final power over all phases of life. Through His author-
ity in us, the ultimate victory is ours.
All the promises of the Christ became a reality for mankind when the angel of the Lord said, “He is risen.”
