“Money from Sen. Kefauver's campaign has come almost’ entirelv in small donations from people of limited means,” his headquarters said. “In the early days of the campaign, much of this came from the people of Tennessee. Subsequently, it has come in small contributions from all over America. “A very few people of wealth who believe in the Senator's candidacy have contributed larger amounts but these contributions have been few and far between.” Sen. Kefauver's headquarters said one of its chief fund-raising devices was the sale of “Kefauver financier cards” at $1. It also said he would not take ong {rom, .. Zamblers., racketeers and other elements of] the - underworld who have contributed heavily to political campaigns in many states.” Sen. Russell told a ‘National Press Club luncheon yesterday that he has been in publi¢ office for 32 years but never befqre has been charged with “being the candidate of racketeers.”
