Mr. Muzzy Tries to Trap Mr. Champion, Is Smeared

R. MUZZY lives for the day when he can catch his chief tormentor, Mr. Champion, in an error. He was sure he had him in today’s deal. Here is what happened. Against the slam contract Mr. Abel opened the king of diamonds, Mr. Champion won with the Ione ace and stopped to figure out his best line of play. He saw that he had a spade loser and also a club loser if the club suit did not break evenly. It appeared to him that he could make his contract if the trumps were divided 2-2 or if the club were divided 3-3 or if dummy’s fifth diamond could be set up for a discard or if the opponents made an error. Only one of these alternatives worked out favorably. The last one.

» » » MR. CHAMPION. first tried the diamond suit. He overtook his king of hearts with dummy's ace, returned a diamond and ruffed it high. Another trump trick was won with dummy’s seven spot and another diamond led and ruffed. When Mr, Abel showed out on this trick, all hope of establishing a long diamond was gone. At this point Mr. Muzzy was known to have a trump left. The only hope now seemed to be that Mr. Muzzy was long in clubs. So Mr. Champion led a club to the king. He was just about to continue with the queen of clubs when it occufred to him that the lead of the

” ” » “WHAT A DAY this is!” Mr. Muzzy crowed. “The great Champion forgot to trumps. trump left, did you, Champion?” “An academic sneered Mr. Champion. “The important thing is that you used your trump to ruff one of

The nice thing about this bookmark idea is that your own snap shot is included as proof of your love for Mother. : These could also be used for Valentines, but then every day should be Valentines Day for Mother, or perhaps every to the left, in the illustration, is the most simple for it is just a 2-inch

‘wide oilcloth strip folded double to make a bookmark eight ‘inches long.

Cut out a heart just below the fold and slip a snapshot under the heart, then punch two holes at the fold to tie a tassel. When a cord has been passed through the loops and tied, glue the oilcloth together with the picture in place, then fringe the end. For the double hearts paste a photo between the two hearts and tie a small heart tag on with Mother's pet name.
