His condition was listed as fair. According to sheriff's deputies, Mr. Shortridge apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

The Indiana association today opened its drive to solicit $250, 000 by private subscription to start a large scale clean-up of Indiana’s hospitals. Judge Youngdahl cited good work by the State in improving the Logansport State Hospital and building the néw Beatty Memorial Hospital at Westville, but warned that these projects were only scattered shots.
