Reds Delay Answer on | Truce Plan
By United Press
MUNSAN, Korea, Apr. 30 Communist truce negotiators studied an Allied plan for ending the Korean War for the third
straight day today and gave no °
hint of when they would reply. The United Nations command proposed an “over-all” solution to the three {issues blocking armistice Monday. The Reds asked for an ‘indefinite recess to study the plan, Reliable reports from Washington said the Allies offered to return ‘three out of five of the 169,000 POWs they have cap tured or interned in Korea, If the Communists agree, this would break the five-month deadlock! on exchanging prisoners of war, Concessions Offered The United Nations plan also was sald to have offered conces-| sions to the Communists on the Allled demand for a ban on con-| struction of military airfields dur-| ing the truce. J But the United Nations apparently still insist that the Com-| munists drop Russia from their list of neutral nations to police the truce,
SEOUL, Korea, Apr. 30 (UP)~| U, 8. planes destroyed six Com-| munist MIG-15 jet fighters and! damaged four others 'n a sudden | renewal of aerial warfare today.| Fifth Air Force Sabrejets knocked all six of the Russianbuilt MIGs and accounted for three of the damaged jets in a| swirling dogfight just south of] the Yalu River Manchurian fron-| tier.. Marine planes damaged the fourth MIG. . | On the ground, Allied soldiers recaptured an advance United! Nations position near Punchbowl! Valley.
