Art by Pupils To Go Overseas

Fifty pictures by Indianapolis and Marion County school children will tell youth in other lands what America is like,

Pictures will be exhibited in the Wm. H. Block Co. auditorlum tomorrow through next Friday. They were chosen as the best of those painted and drawn by pupils from grades 7-12 in public and private schools.

From here the art goes to the National Junior Red Cross for distribution to foreign countries In a spirit of world friendliness. Many of the countries have sent their art work to American students. The exhibit will include water colors, block prints, crayon draw-

ings, scratchboard. work and prints. The National Art Education Association and National Junior Red Cross sponsored the project. Assisting with the program here were Theodore Van Voorhees, director, and Miss Marie Stewart, assistant director of art education in Indianapolis public schools.

SOUTH BEND, Apr. 18 (UP) —Some 600 CIO United Auto Workers were on strike against the Bantam Bearings Division Plant of the Torrington Co, today in a wage dispute. The production workers struck when contract negotiations broke down.
