TV Program to Launch Cookie Sale
A TV send-off program Apr, 18 will launch Girl Scout Cookie Week, Apr. 19-26, during which time several thousand intermediate Girl Seouts in their green uniforms will sell 100,000 boxes of cookies throughout Indianapolis and Marion County. The Girl Scouts have planned “spot” to announce their sale between the hours of 4 and 7 p. m. Apr. 18. The first “spot” will be on the Ayres’ program between 4 and 4:30 p. m. — At that time two scouts, Patricia Moore and Sarah Myers,
will give a puppet show, Mrs. John Burkhart, president of the organization, and three Girl Bcouts will give another announcement on the Jeanette Lee program. Additional short announcements will be made until 7 p. m. The Girl Scout troops will meet during those hours in different homes to watch the announcements. They will provide their own “snack sacks.” ” n - SALES WILL BE made from door to door and through cookie booths downtown set up and maintained by various
Scout troops. Mrs. L. M. Lurie

Mrs. Dione Lucas.
She is currently presenting the Cordon Bleu Cooking School on Thursday mornings in Ayres’ Auditorium under
the sponsorship of the Indianapolis Smith College. Club. Celery leaves, mushroom stems, asparagus and caulifiower stalks...all items which often go into the garbage... make excellent flavoring for ‘Mrs. Lucas suggests stock in many of her recipes, on the assumption it is already available just as you keep salt and pepper on hand. 3 r » » SHE USES four juicy veal bones (knuckles, possibly and two or three pounds of brisket of beef. Place this in a large earthenware crock with six quarts of water. Bring to a boil and skim off the scum. Add vegetables, but never starchy ones such as potatoes, or parsnips, but carrots, onions, celery and mushrooms, instead. Include a herb bouquet and cook three hours. Strain and store in refrigerator to use in other ‘recipes. ; For making omlets, Mrs. Lucas recommends never using less than three eggs in order to
get a good job. “This is enough for one very large man or two delicate ladies,” she remarked.
: » ” > “THE SUCCESS of the omelet depends on the temperature of the pan; she continued. “Al ways heat the heavy skillet with no butter or fat in it. To test the temperature, stir around a fork with a walnut of
butter on the end. If it sizzles, but doesn’t brown, then the temperature is perfect.” Mrs. Lucas uses a dry towel to wipe out the skillet if the butter happens to brown. 8he stirred the omelet mixture briskly until it began to thicken, then smoothing the mixture evenly with the flat side of the fork. After a few seconds she slid the tines of the fork around the edges of the omelet just in case it stuck and gently folded it in half. She tips her skillet after bumping it once on the edge of the stove burner and holds the plate to the edge of the skillet to catch the finished product.
