MONTREAL, Apr. 11— Detroit won that vital first game in its best-of-seven series with Montreal for the Stanley Cup but the gloomy winners talked today as though they had lost the opening contest of hockey’s “world series.” And the Canadiens, who suffered a 3-to-1 defeat as the National, Hockey League. playoff championships began last night, claimed the game wasn't even “aver yet” because of a time-clock incident. ” ~ .
