FBI Looks For Sabotage a
In Anthrax
By United Press "WASHINGTON, Mar, 28 FBI agents today sought to determine, whether sabotage caused the cur-| rent outbreak of anthrax, a dead-! ly livestock disease, in Indiana and other Midwest states. The FBI announced it has Degun| an investigation of the current attack of the deadly disease to see if it has “jurisdiction” in the case. One phase of the inquiry is to find out whether the disease has been spread through anthrax spores in imported bone meal. Anthrax, which is usually fatal to livestock and can be passed on to humans, has already killed 250 animals in Ohio and has spread to nine states, It is caused by spores which cannot be eradlcated after they penetrate the soil. | Although a successful vaccine has been developed, it is used only In states where the disease -is known to exist. Anthrax is not common to states that have been] hit hardest in the current outbreak—1Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
