Two Ways to Look on Easter Sunday

VARIETY is the keynote of fashion this spring. There is a silhouet for every age and every figure type. There is the reed-slim look with a narrow skirt, the molded torso look with moder-

ate skirt fullness and the doll look with cinched waistline and voluminous, petticoated skirt. Two of these leading silhouets have been interpreted for you here at a very modest price.

“S HOULD nylons be

washed before wear- :

ing for ‘the first time?”

That is the question most often asked, according to a recent survey. And the answer, from one of the country’s leading washability laboratories is “Yes, for better fit right from the outset,

wash before wearing.” Treat your stockings like something cherished and valuable, and they'll repay you in extra mileage. Nightly sudsing to remove all trace of body moisture, is one of the ways you can pamper nylons. It takes but a minute to whisk them through lukewarm suds (hot water tends to fade colors), rinse well, knead out excess moisture in Turkish towel, and hang to dry over a smooth rod or towel, away from heat.

They offer indisputable evidence that good taste and good fashfon have no price:

The costumes and all accessories are from J. C. Penney’'s.

4 8 8 THE FRESH WHITE rayon gabardine bolero suit is typical of the reed-slim silhouet. Its graceful rolled collar, breast pockets and hip pockets are accented with white soutache braid scrolling. It comes in sizes 10 to 16 for $7.90. The navy blue cotton blouse is $2.98.

LAUNDERING IS, of course, a most important factor . . . but let's also consider proper size and length. By measuring

from the tip of the toe to the heel in inches, while standing ‘full weight on a ruler, and then adding a fraction of an inch, we can best determine size. Length depends more on the type of foundation garment worn than on the generally accepted measure of height: Many tall girls use medium length rather than long hose, so here you must experiment a bit. And now to select the proper stocking for your particular purpose. . For everyday or business wear, perhaps 30 denier, 45 gauge nylons would be sheer enough, while 15 denier, 51 or higher gauge round out the stocking wardrobe for dress occasions. So, for walking and generally hard wear, the heavier weight
