Four Distinctive Coat Silhouets
HIS year is the year of variety in fashjon. The trend toward complete individuality is particularly noticeable in spring coats. Coats have more of the costume look, more detailing, more fashion know-how than ever before. Their silhouet is as carefully plotted as that of a fine suit or dress. No longer are they “just something practical.” They are a costume to themselves. ; Sd & & FOUR of the best-looking coats seen to date” are the ones pictured. They exemplify totally different silhouets, yet all are new and smart. Short coats are better than ever with crisply flared backs, jaunty cuffs and deep-set sleeves. The one above has jeweled buttons, soft collarless neckline. It is of poodle cloth and available at Davidson's Indiana Fur Co. for 69.95. : The fitted coat is as trim as a coachman’s with its long curved lapels, deep-set sleeves and double-breasted front. An exciting white pique cocktail suit combines a strapless dress and Spencer jacket—both heavily encrusted with black, Turkish embroidery, gold braid and silver rhinestones. A classic daytime suit, with easy walking fullness in the skirt, is in off-white cotton printed with blue and brown cornflowers and green leaves, ” LJ ~ : MAGGY ROUFF USES the paisley pique, in cool green and white, for a beautiful, tailored daytime suit with tiny peplum, wing collar and softly flared skirt. She also likes the drama of sheer, delicately printed cottons for evening. Jean Desses, too, Hkes the green paisley, cutting from it a chic summer sun or date dress with bouffant skirt and decollete top. With it he shows a bewitching parasol. Hermes points up polka dots —with a difference! For a
sleeveless afternoon dress, he

» » ” JACQUES GRIFFE dotes on dots, too, and fashions a dramatic but very wearable daye time frock in gray cotton poplin splashed with huge, white dots. Interest centers in the skirt — slim at the hips and flared at the hem with a double row of gores, : Jacques Heim shows a quilted, white cotton skirt and black cotton halter for cocke tail wear that reach the height of drama. The skirt has inserts of black cotton grosgrain in sharp, geometrical designs; the halter has a deeply slashed neckline and a collar that but. tons around the neck.
