girl last Apr. 17. Ordered to Testify Judge Chamberlin denied the request and ordered them to testify, The two witnesses then denied the alleged act had been committed. Attorney Shaw then asked the court to dismiss the charges be-: cause the state failed to prove its! case. Judge Chamberlin granted the request. | In ordering the , Grand Jury investigation, the Judge said, “the whole case smells.” “It is apparent to me that somebody here is guilty of per-| jury or inducing others to com-| mit perjury,” he said. Charges Story The girl Walton was accused of | raping told Judge Chamberlin her | original story to Juvenile Aid Division policewomen was a hoax. | When the judge asked her who told her to change her story, she replied, “Nobody.” Last month Mr. Shaw bumped] heads with Federal Judge William! E. Steckler, who ordered the attorney to show cause why he! should not be barred from prac-| ticing in that court. Mr. Shaw] was accused of “high pressure tac-| tics” in collecting his fee from the| family of a Kokomo youth] charged with auto theft. The family said Mr. Shaw hinted he was “in” with Judge] Steckler.
