Indianapolis, appeared cer-/| tain today to win the contest with dissenting stockholder supporters of Hy Frederick Willkie, recentlyousted president of the meatpacking firm. However, Mr. Willkie announced that he intends to carry the fight to the courts. ’ Stockholders of Kingan voted, in person and by proxy, at the annual meeting here today on management and opposition] slates of directors. | Although the final tally is not expected until late this afternoon, a management - controlled block of 600,000 shares out of a total 829,396 shares, apparently -assures the vote for the incumbent management, headed by the new president, W, R, Sinclair. The opposition vote is not expected to exceed 180,000 shares, out of a total vote of 700,000 to 780,000 shares expected by the company, T. Newman . Lawler, attorney for Mr. Willkie who was ousted | last Friday as chief executive of the firmy after serving since No-| vember, 1950, sald Mr. Willkie's| name was not included on the in-| dependent committee’s slate of di-| rectors because “we intend to go to court on this thing.” The opposition slate was nominated by members of the “Independent Committee of Stockholders of Kingan & Co.”—Patrick J. Callahan, an insurance agent; Edward Lee, an attorney, and Jay Carton, a security analyst.
