TV and Radio—

WHEN TV BIG SHOT

Then someone had a brainstorm -Dinah Shore was a personality in herself-——why not have a show that was “Just Dinah.” Now, every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 p. m. on Channel 10, TV viewers are greeted with a Homey, down-to-earth, personalized show that is “Just Dinah.” “The Dinah Shore Show” is one of the highspots on Tuesday and Thursday evening screens ] and it's a pleasure to relax and . } enjoy the soft flow of Dinah's ol songs—sung just for you. Dinah usually begins by inviting the audience into her home for a d4iftle “chat” and proceeds from there to popular songs and memories of some of.the highlights in her career. Before attempting a show of

; her own, Dinah made guest ap-~ ut pearances with Jack Benny, Mil- §

ton Berle and Bob Hope. From ‘them she gained valuable pointers in the art of ‘getting across to the audience.” # Not exactly lacking in the dei partment of physical charms, . | 3 Dinah has adopted the attitude 4 that since she is literally a guest in her audience's homes, she will abide by. all the rules. Hence — no low necklines.

: on F ” i DON'T FORGET to make your : bid for the five dollar prize for this week's best letter on “Amos ‘N' Andy” vs. “My Friend Irma.” It isn't every day you can collect money for airing your pet peeve or patting a favorite on the back. Besides that, the prize winning letter.and others will be published inthis column on Sunday. o Address letters to: TV Editor, Indianapolis Times.

= n ” 2 .. IF AUDIENCE reaction has 3 anything to do with it—and it certainly should — theater television is here to stay. - . Sitting among the crowd in the Indiana theater last night I watched people forget they were in a theater miles away from the scene of the IU-Illinois basketball ganie. In spite of minor difficulties such as blurred outlines and occasional glaring white spots .on the screen, the basketball. fans were as excited as the crowd in the IU fieldhouse. Reception at the theater, on the whole, was very good and anyone knowing even vaguely the different players on the teams had no trouble at all in. following the play. What was missed because of distance was covered adequately by the announcer,’
