YWORDS. at Mrs. James Gibson's party yesterday were, ‘Pass the sugar please.” When dessert was served, in the form of individual heart-shaped cakes, the hostess told her guests to look
for a®surprise inside.
They found their surprise in the form of golden charms and the hostess found hers too—no sugar in the cakes. This was one dessert that couldn't be refused for dietary reasons. ” ” ” REMBRANDT was given keen competition yesterday by Mrs. Rene G. DuBois, T7080 N. Pennsylvania St. The red candles which formed centerpieces at the Meridian Hills Country Club luncheon attracted more attention than the food itself. They were ofl painted with cupids and hearts by Mrs. DuBois. « Mrs, Erwin Schaefery Nottingham Court, was chairman of the Valentine event. » » n YOU DON’T HAVE to be an Aristotle or Thomas Dewey to entertain the president of a college. According to Mr. and Mrs. George Schley, 4211 Knollton Rd., all that's necessary is a slightly heavier market, basket plus gossip on alumni. That's exactly what the Schleys are preparing to offer Dr, Gordon Keith Chalmers, president of Kenyon College, who will arrive in Indianapolis next week for the school's alumni dinner meeting in th Columbia Club. - ” F ” HERE'S A: SOLUTION for insomnia. If you can’t sleep, don't try counting sheep. Instead, round up a few friends at midnight and party until you're exhausted. Mr. and Mrs. A, L. Sutton; who tried this method last night, add one word of advice. Wear pajamas when you greet your guests since you may fall asleep before they leave. A man's suit is the darndest

o = » MISS SARAH KARABELLE, 2930 Ruckle St., won’t have to pick petals off daisies this spring to =eg if her ‘fiance, Robert Botkins, U. 8. Air Force, loves her or not. Stationed at Wright-Patter-son Field, Dayton, Cpl. Botkins fired boilers all night so he could come here. to see Sarah on Valentine's Day. He must have turned in his air corps wings for a Pair of cupid’s wings.
ARE YOU TIRED of the green scarf you've been wearing? Don’t throw it away. Call Mrs. George Fotheringham, 122 E. 44th 8t., and ask her to make a temporary swap with you. She did with Mrs. Marjorie Suddith, Indianapolis Symphony Office worker. While helping out voluntarily in the Symphony office, Mrs. Fotheringham remembered a meeting in Community Chest headquarters. In her hurry, she. grabbed Mrs. Suddith’'s green scarf anc wore it, thinking it her own, fo a week. Yesterday, the travelled scar, was delivered to the Symphon) ‘office with no message attached. The problem facing Mrs. Suddith now is, should she send a thank you note or should she just be thankful?

THE CORRECT procedure is to put a few drops on the inside wrist of one arm. Then, after it has dried, sniff—not just once, but two or three or four times. Think about the fragrance. If the first does not quite “do” things for you, repeat the process with a different perfume on the other inside wrist. A third scent should be tested on another part of the arm so. that the odors will not be confused. Do take time to “try on’ your perfumes. Surely you wouldn't
expect to buy the just-right-
hat in less than half an hour. = = »

Local Alumni Lists Speaker
Dr. Keith Chalmers, president of Kenyon College, will address local alumni, their wives and other friends of the college at a 6:30 p. m. dinner next Friday in the Columbia Club. He will show pictures of the college and the town of Gambier, O., where the college is located. He is a former Rhodes scholar at Oxford and holds both earned and honorary doctor's degrees. Although the college is not a theological school, it has maintained a friendly association with the Episcopal Church. The Rev. John P. Craine, rector of Christ Church here, is a graduate of the college.
