In Battle of Grenades

By United Press

Or was the admission made by the Pendleton reformatory convict In an effort to gain a “breather” from solitary confinement where he had been the last - few days because of a fight «. with a cellmate? | State police and sheriff's deputies pondered these questions last night after “jungle bandit” James Earl Perry told them he shot Michael Mattes to death last June. But a ballistics test blew his confession full of holes.
