Innocence A-Broadening—
Boy, 15, Has Bogus Nickel Boogey Blues
By United Press
, DAVENPORT, Iowa, Feb. 8 Police said today that a 15-year-old boy turned out about 300 “pretty good” counterfeit nickels in the basement of his § home. His parents thought he was molding lead soldiers. The boy and his high school friends used the nickels to feed pin ball machines and juke boxes. Police invited secret service agents in Omaha L to have a look at the boy's technique which they described as “pretty ingenious, I must admit.” The boy, who was released to the custody of
parents after he was picked up yesterday, molded 39¢ : his nickels in forms he made in the tops of jelly glasses. LL He made the Buffalo variety.
A cigar store manager brotight a handful of the bogus coins into headquarters. The manager said they came out of one of his pin ball machines.
S| , The boy was traced through one of his friends. Police would not release the boy's name but ® . said he came from a “good family.”
