WASHINGTON, Feb. T—Rep. Frank Leslie Chelf chairman of the new House subcommittee to Justice Department, isn't interested in “the little fellows.” . If there are fish to be caught, Mg. Chelf wants them to be big fish. To illustrate his approach, this 44-year-old lawyer told of “criminal” curred 20 years ago when he became a county prosecutor, “I'd been in office a month when one of those officious game wardens brought in two youngsters who had been fishing illegally,” the evidence—a couple of fish as long as your hand. “I couldn't talk him out of prosecuting so I had to present the case to court, The kids were guilty, of course. “I THINK such a man would have a different approach to

our problem. Country lawyers who have served as county prosecutors are compelled by the limitations of their staffs to do most of the work themselves—and they get a lot of varied experience.” Mr, Chelf knows about county prosecutors. When he was 24 he began the first of three four-year terms in that position in Marion County, Kentucky. He took a leave of absence in 1042 to enter the Air Force, serving with the Air Transport Command. He was discharged for physical disability in 1944 with the rank of major. Though he was with Air Force intelligence, he wasn't in the investigation end.
