(UP) A thin, pretty young mother of two walked into police headquarters vesterday, stood
trembling before officers of the narcotics. squad and begged tear fully to he sent to jail to break her of the heroin habit.
“You've got to help me do something about it,” pleaded 26-year-old Mrs, Mary Alice Chavez “1 wanted to take good care of my kids but 1 couldn’t even get them enough to eat. “It cost me $25 to $30 a day for the stuff once 1 was hooked: 1 had to beg, borrow and steal
the money . .. any way I could get it . . . I had to have it for the stuff,
