The churches of Indianapolis believe profoundly that one of their chief duties, certainly one of their pleasures, is to strengthen and undergird these homes spiritually. That is. why _the ‘Irvington, Roberts Park and Bethel Methodist Churches are announcing speclal events based on family life.

A LITTLE HOUSE with a carpenter's shop adjoining, built and lived in long ago in Nazareth, Palestine, the pattern for home and family life stressed by the churches. The Irvington Methodist Church has organized a family life committee which includes seven couples, Mrs. I). Joe Hendrickson, mother of two daughters—one in high school and another in college—and = a onetime teacher, heads the committee. The seven couples will explore the field of family life as related to the church and pass on their findings to others. They have invited Dr. Richard Lentz of Chicago to speak on: “The Family Looks to the Church” at 8 p..m..

“Some churches cater too much to youth ar children.” ‘Mrs, Hendrickson continued. “We want to do more for the aging.-It already
has been discovered that our voung people between the ages, 21 and 35, find but little in the
way of extra Fafyicdiag activities to attract them. We have begun to try to remedy that, have had one special program for them. “Older men especially need something to bind them to the church. Our older churchwomen belong to a quilting circle which furnishes a center for their lives. They not only meet to sew but
observe each other's birthdays, have many parties ‘and form friendships ” 5 n
“WE HOPE TO set aside a time for the older men to use our youth center for recreation, for playing checkers and the like and to enjoy snacks together.” The Roberts Park Church will hold a service in the spirit of the Irvington committee at 7:30 p. m. tomorrow, Mr. and Mrs. Sexson E. carry head burdens at 3 years of age.” | Train the Boys
Rev. Boone says the Baptist missionaries have trained the African boys to be pastors, teach-| ers and nurses. Their wives now have enough education to help! them in the work. But few of fhe girls can continue in school long enough to take a nurse's training. It was easily seen that the ,Baptist missionary is fond of the African people. He spoke of their
kindness, their forgiving ways and their refusal to cherish resentments.
“They like the missionaries and ppreciate our efforts for them,” e concluded.
