Property Levy Down In Only One County
The Indiana Taxpayers’ Association said today a final check of property tax levies for taxes payable in 1952 showed Newton County was the only one with a reduction from 1951. Harry Miesse, chairman of the Association’s Board, said Newton County taxpayers would pay $1,403 less next year, but taxpayers of all 91 other Hoosier counties would pay about $25 million more. The property tax bill for 1952 is estimated at $231,158,251.
