The Seattle, Wash., chairman of the Socialist Workers Party was denied the right to file as Seattle mayoralty candidate yesterday because he refused to sign a loyalty oath. Daniel Roberts, 34, denied being “subversive” and said he believed the oath violated constitutional guarantees of freedom of speech. The 1951 Washington State Legislature made the oath a requirement.

BOSTON, Mass., Dec. 27 (UP) — Municipal Judge Elias Shamon yesterday found Mansfield Nabors, 69, innocent of an assault charge brought by his wife becav ie the defendant had “suffered enough.”
Mrs. Edmona Nabors, 66, testified that her husband had left her 26 times during their 42 years of married life. But after listening to Mrs. Nabors’ lengthy recital of her marital woes the judge said: “I think you talked him out of the house . . . not. quilty, I think he’s suffered enough.”
