Bodies of nine Hoosier soldiers

and two Marines were aboard the Loma Victory, scheduled to arrive in San Francisco last night. The Indiana men are among 510 Americans who lost their lives fighting in Korea, the Defense Department announced.

‘WASHINGTON, Dec. 15—California, New York and Texas, in that order, led all the other states in population gain from 1940 to 1950, census director Roy V. Peel announced today. : -California had a-natural increase of 1,019,836 plus 2,659,000- arrivals from out of state. New York's natural increase was 1,083,050 plus 268,000 from out of state. Texas

Indiana gained more than half a million. The bureau said the 19,000,000 population increase for the entire nation included an 18,000,000 natural increase and a 1,000,000 net gain from immigration.
