Gormans Await Our Wooing
* By LEON DENNEN : BONN, Germany, Dec, 15 :—Few Germans are ready to yrush to the defense of the “West.. Their reluctance is no sign they've developed a love for ‘Moscow, however. The German people realjze they are sitting in a favorable bargaining position. They believe a ‘upited Germany could act as a balance of power between the Kast and West and thus exact § greater concessions from both sides. That is the attitude I found, as I talked with dozens of ordinary } folk during a tour from Berlin to the Ruhr. It is why West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer # is facing a hard parliamentary § bAttle ‘on the question of rearming Germany within the proposed European army. The 75-year-old Chancellor said on visits to Paris and London that conditions in Germany were “especially favorable” for European unity. He emphasized that the Bonn Republic has rejected the idea of ‘“neutraliza-
